Spicy Shrimp Aglio e Olio Spaghetti 🦐🍝

Hello there 🙂

In this post, I’m going to talk about my first experience in cooking spaghetti. It’s the ‘Spicy Shrimp Aglio e Olio Spaghetti’.  Mummy said she loves it and that’s why I dare to share hehehe. It’s a really simple recipe.

Note: Apologies for not being able to provide measurements of the ingredients, because I did it out of personal preference. But trust me, it tasted good ^^

Ingredients:

  1. Spaghetti (1 packet; 4-5 servings)
  2. Olive Oil
  3. Salt
  4. Garlic
  5. Onion
  6. Cherry tomatoes
  7. Shrimps
  8. Chili Flakes

Let’s get started! 😀

First of all, put a packet of spaghetti into a frying pan. Then, fill in water until it entirely covers the spaghetti. Turn on the stove into moderate flames. Add a swirl of Olive Oil and a few pinch of Salt and wait till the spaghetti becomes soft/cooked.

I use a frying pan instead of a pot because the noodles obviously can lay down perfectly in a frying pan as shown above. Rather then letting the noodles stand in a pot if you know what I mean haha.

While waiting for the spaghetti to be cooked, chop some Garlic and Onions into small pieces, as small as it could be. (I thought I have onions at home but found out that I have none when I needed them). Hence, there were no onions in my dish. If you were going to cook this, please remember to put onions because it will make your dish taste better!

Moving on, cut some Cherry Tomatoes into halves.

By the time I’ve finish chopping and cutting the two ingredients, the spaghetti noodles has became soft/cooked.

Transfer the Spaghetti noodles from the frying pan into a bowl, preferably with holes so that they can breathe 😛

Next, reuse the same pan. Swirl a moderate amount of Olive Oil into the pan. Then add the chopped Garlic and Onions (supposingly) into the oil. Fry them until the garlic turns golden brown. Fry fry fry.

Add Chili Flakes. Fry fry fry. Being a first-timer with no experience in cooking, I realize that the Chili Flakes that I added have absorbed a lot of my Olive Oil. And so I have to add in more Olive Oil so that I don’t burn my garlic.

Lesson learnt: I should add in Chili Flakes at the end of my cooking next time.

Add in the Cherry Tomatoes. Fry fry fry.

Add in Shrimps. Fry fry fry. The Cherry Tomatoes produce a lot of juice, seems nice, I like it! I used frozen shrimps. It’s easier because it’s all readily peeled and packaged, all I need to do was thaw the shrimps and cook it. However, I prefer fresh prawns/shrimps which I will use next time. The texture of fresh prawns is softer and tastier, while the frozen ones are crispy and lacking of taste.

Lastly, pour the cooked noodles into the pan and stir until even and well. (I only poured three-quarter of the noodles because the amount of shrimps that I bought wasn’t enough for the whole packet of noodles).

And you’re done! 😀

And ready to serve! 😀

You can add more Chili Flakes for more spicy taste. I can’t really eat spicy and I did it for decorative purpose only hehe.

Hope you guys enjoy, have a nice day! ^^
