Homemade Guava Snack

Ever felt guilty chewing all sorts of fattening and unhealthy snacks while watching your favorite TV show? Or while you were stressed up studying for exams? It’s a big yes for me, ALL THE TIME. Hence I thought by substituting junk food with healthy snacks would help a lot in maintaining good health and help to prevent myself from obesity and other undesirable illnesses.

Today, I’m going to share with you my all-time favorite Guava snack 🙂 One of my friend taught me how to make it and I was in love with it ever since. It’s very appetizing and super easy to prepare!

All you need is:

  1. Guava (It’s called Jambu Batu in Malaysia)
  2. Dried Mandarin/Tangerine Peels

Let’s start! 🙂

First of all, wash and cut the Guava into halves.

Secondly, use a big and firm metal spoon to scoop out the seeds as shown above. Prevent using a knife to do so because it’s dangerous and you might cut yourself.

Then, cut out the ends as shown and discard.

Cut the Guava into slices! The thinner you slice it, the better! 🙂 Because Guava/Jambu Batu is naturally hard like it’s name already said so (‘Batu’ means Rock). When you slice it thin, it’s not only gonna taste better, but made edible for grandpa, grandma and toddlers without having to worry that it will choke them/break their teeth haha. Joking not joking.

Fill the sliced Guava into a container. Then, cut the Dried Mandarin/Tangerine Peels into small pieces into the container, using a scissors (or if you don’t mind the appearance you can just tear the peels with your fingers). Lastly, mix/stir them together by using clean hands. Then, close up the container and shake it for like 10 seconds.

Leave it for 10-15 minutes and ready to serve! 😀

For better taste, keep it refrigerated. That’s the best!

Tasty and guilt-free 🙂

Have fun trying this out!

Spicy Shrimp Aglio e Olio Spaghetti 🦐🍝

Hello there 🙂

In this post, I’m going to talk about my first experience in cooking spaghetti. It’s the ‘Spicy Shrimp Aglio e Olio Spaghetti’.  Mummy said she loves it and that’s why I dare to share hehehe. It’s a really simple recipe.

Note: Apologies for not being able to provide measurements of the ingredients, because I did it out of personal preference. But trust me, it tasted good ^^

  1. Spaghetti (1 packet; 4-5 servings)
  2. Olive Oil
  3. Salt
  4. Garlic
  5. Onion
  6. Cherry tomatoes
  7. Shrimps
  8. Chili Flakes

Let’s get started! 😀

First of all, put a packet of spaghetti into a frying pan. Then, fill in water until it entirely covers the spaghetti. Turn on the stove into moderate flames. Add a swirl of Olive Oil and a few pinch of Salt and wait till the spaghetti becomes soft/cooked.

I use a frying pan instead of a pot because the noodles obviously can lay down perfectly in a frying pan as shown above. Rather then letting the noodles stand in a pot if you know what I mean haha.

While waiting for the spaghetti to be cooked, chop some Garlic and Onions into small pieces, as small as it could be. (I thought I have onions at home but found out that I have none when I needed them). Hence, there were no onions in my dish. If you were going to cook this, please remember to put onions because it will make your dish taste better!

Moving on, cut some Cherry Tomatoes into halves.

By the time I’ve finish chopping and cutting the two ingredients, the spaghetti noodles has became soft/cooked.

Transfer the Spaghetti noodles from the frying pan into a bowl, preferably with holes so that they can breathe 😛

Next, reuse the same pan. Swirl a moderate amount of Olive Oil into the pan. Then add the chopped Garlic and Onions (supposingly) into the oil. Fry them until the garlic turns golden brown. Fry fry fry.

Add Chili Flakes. Fry fry fry. Being a first-timer with no experience in cooking, I realize that the Chili Flakes that I added have absorbed a lot of my Olive Oil. And so I have to add in more Olive Oil so that I don’t burn my garlic.

Lesson learnt: I should add in Chili Flakes at the end of my cooking next time.

Add in the Cherry Tomatoes. Fry fry fry.

Add in Shrimps. Fry fry fry. The Cherry Tomatoes produce a lot of juice, seems nice, I like it! I used frozen shrimps. It’s easier because it’s all readily peeled and packaged, all I need to do was thaw the shrimps and cook it. However, I prefer fresh prawns/shrimps which I will use next time. The texture of fresh prawns is softer and tastier, while the frozen ones are crispy and lacking of taste.

Lastly, pour the cooked noodles into the pan and stir until even and well. (I only poured three-quarter of the noodles because the amount of shrimps that I bought wasn’t enough for the whole packet of noodles).

And you’re done! 😀

And ready to serve! 😀

You can add more Chili Flakes for more spicy taste. I can’t really eat spicy and I did it for decorative purpose only hehe.

Hope you guys enjoy, have a nice day! ^^

My Daily Apple Cider Vinegar & Lemon Detox Drink 🍋

Hello there beloved readers! 🙂

Today I’m gonna talk about my daily detox drink which only requires two main ingredients which are:

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar
  2. Lemon

I have been making this healthy drink for a week and I am feeling healthier and fresher throughout the week! 🙂 Ladies, women and men consume this drink for a variety of purposes such as for weight loss, prevent fat accumulation, reduce bloating, cure indigestion, detoxification and even to gain a flat tummy.

I have only been practicing this for a week and I haven’t lose any weight yet, mainly because I’ve been eating so unhealthily. I had extra big appetite during PMS and ate a lot of junk food. But at least the fact that I consume my homemade detox drink every day, I felt less guilty hehehe.

Besides, people create/customize their own detox drink (for a better taste/more health benefits) by adding a variety of ingredients such as cinnamon powder, honey, tumeric, ginger, cayenne pepper and fruit juices. However, mine is easier. I like to keep it simple 🙂

Some people drink it once a day every morning, but I’m more flexible and I drink it whenever I feel like it 🙂

Let’s cut the chase and here is what I do every day:

1. Cut a slice of lemon and put it in your drinking glass.

Some people prefer to use whole lemon and use a squeezer to squeeze all the juice out. However, I love to make my drink with the skin of the lemon in it. Lemon peel have several health benefits such as improving bone health, fights cancer, reduces cholesterol, maintains oral health and cleansing the liver (according to 10 Amazing Benefits of Lemon Peels)

2. Pour semi-warm water into the glass.

According to Hutchins (2015) in How Does Boiling Affect Vitamin Content, it is important to preserve the nutrients in our food. The Vitamin C content in food can be reduced by extreme exposure from cold, heat, light, lengthy storage and water.

Hence, what I will do is to reheat the already cooled down boiled water in the water heater, for less than a minute. So that the water temperature is not too hot.

3. Add a syringe of Apple Cider Vinegar into the glass.

You can use the bottle cap of the Apple Cider Vinegar to measure the amount of ACV or by using a tablespoon. However, I always spill the ACV while pouring the liquid out, mainly because the bottle is too bulky. Hence I use a syringe I found in my cabinet which helps me prevent the mess and wastage. The bottle cap is approximately 3ml, same as the measurement of my syringe. Lastly, stir it. I didn’t like the taste in the beginning but eventually I got used to it.

And you’re done! 😀

Hope you guys enjoy this post 🙂

Have a nice day people,

Apple Cider Vinegar Facial Toner 🍎

Today, I’m going to talk about my current daily routine! 🙂

I have been doing this routine for a week (every single morning and night) and I’m so satisfied with what I see for myself! My skin has improved with noticeable changes in such a short period of time.

I found out this remedy last week as I had an event coming up and I need to get rid of my soon-to-be breakouts! I tried the night before the event and to my surprise, no breakouts for the whole week! 🙂

The most unsettling problem in my life has been blackheads (on my nose) and dull complexion. Like I need at least liquid foundation and lip balm before I head out to anywhere to remain confident meeting people. One of the reasons why I don’t look good in photos is mainly because of dull complexion too.

Finally I found this natural facial toner remedy and I love it! My skin tone is more restored and balanced now and blackheads are starting to reduce too yayy! Furthermore, I felt like I have a shield around my face as it helps ward off bacteria.

To cut to the chase, I have been using Apple Cider Vinegar as my facial toner. I would love to share this with all of you out there wishing that it will help change your life for better, especially to those who has uneven skin tone like I do and also to those with acne-prone skin.

Before applying this homemade facial toner, you will need to ensure that your face is exfoliated (once in a while) and cleansed.

So here are the 4 things that you will need:

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

I went to a few grocery stores in my hometown to look for Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar but unfortunately it wasn’t available, like there were only 2 existing brands. I chose the Heinz’s Apple Cider Vinegar and it worked just fine! 🙂

I was looking for Bragg’s ACV because it seems to be the most popular ACV in the health and beauty world. It is even used as a remedy to gain flat-tummy. The Bragg’s is different because it is organic, raw and unfiltered with ‘the mother’ in it, which is why the liquid seems more cloudy and saturated. Meanwhile, the Heinz’s is an ultra-filtered one. Moving on to the next ingredient:

2. Distilled or Filtered Water

Well, I only use boiled room-temperature water.

3. A Syringe

Initially, I used the ACV’s bottle cap to measure the amount of ACV that I wanted. But then I found this syringe at home which is approximate to the amount from the bottle’s cap! I personally think that using a syringe is more relevant because the ACV’s bottle is kinda bulky (no idea why the packaging has to be so bulky) and I never fail to spill them all over by accident. So by using a syringe will prevent the mess and wastage.

4. Cotton Pads

I only use one cotton pad each session 🙂

Got your ingredients and apparatus ready? Let’s get started!

1. First and foremost, determine how saturated you want the solution to be. I have read a few articles and the saturation varies depending on your needs/desires. Usually I would just pour less than one-third (1/3) of water into a short glass (approximately 8 syringe of water as photo shown below). It worked just fine for me.

2. Secondly, one (1) part of ACV is syringed out from its bottle and it is mixed/stirred with the eight (8) parts of water. Proportion of 1:8, which means I like it more diluted, more water compared to ACV.

You can always experiment different proportions until you think it works best for you 🙂 For instance, 1:1, 1:3 or 1:5.

3. Lastly, soak a piece of cotton pad in the solution and apply on your whole face, avoiding the eyes area as it might give you a stingy sensation (you’re not gonna like it). You can use the same cotton pad for another 2-3 times for one session.

And that’s it! You’re done 😀

Oh! Just a friendly reminder, you might not like the smell of Apple Cider Vinegar. I don’t know how to put it into words but pungy maybe? One of the YouTubers said it smells like foot haha! However, the smell will dispersed into thin air in no time, right after you have done applying the solution on your face so no worries 🙂

After the face-toning session, you can apply your daily moisturizer and make-up. As for me, I’m not a moisturizer person (because I don’t like the sticky feeling) and I would apply make-up straight on.

If you don’t like it that way, you can always rinse your face first before applying moisturizer and make-up.

That’s it for today! 🙂

Have fun trying and hopefully it helps!

Have a good day, xoxo.

2017 Valentine’s Day 🌹

It was a pleasant & memorable day!

Mummy and I decided to dine-in once again at SSL Traders Hotel (Traders Corner) once again. Let’s see what we had! 🙂

Appetizer: Waldorf Salad with cilantro tapioca puree. (For 2)

Soup: Homemade creamy pumpkin soup with crusty cheese bread. (For 2)

Main Course 1: Seared Chilean Seabass (Served seafood reduction, tomato cherry & green vegetables with fettucine aglio-lio).

Main Course 2: Chicken Roulade Stuffed with Frankfurter (Served roasted sweet potato & creamy mushrooms sauce).

Share Platter (Chef Special Dish): One Heart (Oven BBQ short ribs).

Dessert: Original crepes & orange sauce with vanilla ice-cream. (For 2)

This is the second time both of us celebrate Valentine’s Day here. The food never fail to satisfy us, and I believe all the other couples who dined in had the same experience too 🙂 Besides the amazing food, let’s look at the ambiance!

The special decoration made for the occasion. I personally think that it is romantic. There were balloons all over the ceiling, red roses were given (sometimes with a teddy bear), sentimental kind of music were played, and a candlelight on each table. Not to forget, complimentary 2 glasses of house sparkling beverages were served too (can be refilled)! You will be served politely by the smiley-faces throughout your presence at the dining hall. They will even offer to help you and your partner for taking photos 🙂

How much?

It was only RM99 PER COUPLE!

Which means including GST, you will only have to pay RM105 for 2 PERSON. How reasonable was that? 😀

I highly recommend  you all to give it a try for the next Valentine’s Day, especially Taiping people. The hotel is located at my hometown which is Taiping, Perak.

Oh ya, if you’re still single next year, it is okay! You can always bring your mum, dad, sibling or a friend as your partner.

Please know that Valentine’s Day isn’t only for lovers, it is a time people express their love for one another including your family, friends and maybe a pet hehehe.

Have a good day and see you in my next post! 🙂
